On the weekend of 4-5 July, 2026, Nozomi Energy sponsored the second annual Fun Fes music festival in Nakashibetsu, Hokkaido. Thousands came, mainly from Nakashibetsu and surrounding communities, to see 18 artists and groups perform, enjoy local foods, and make family-friendly arts and crafts.
Nozomi Energy first learned about Fun Fes during our discussions with the community regarding our plan to build a solar power plant in the town. In addition to our sponsorship, 5 employees also volunteered their time at the event, helping with admission, security, and backstage cleaning.
The weather was perfect for the outdoor festival held at the Nakashibetsu Airport, where people of all ages and gender gathered not just from Nakashibetsu but seemingly from broader Hokkaido, including families camping out at the site.
Music highlights included performances by big names including hip-hop artists AK-69 and Zeebra, EXILE USA, EXILE MAKIDAI – members of dance and vocal group EXILE – and hip-hop group DOBERMAN INFINITY, as well as Hokkaido artists including the idol group ambitious, actor Hiroyuki Morisaki, rapper ZEEYRO, and comedian Mai Ants.
One volunteer from Nozomi Energy said of the event, “Though we’ve visited the area many times for business, it was really nice to be able to contribute to the local community, interact with the residents and, while on break, to enjoy the local food.”
Jose Antonio Millan Ruano, CEO of Nozomi Energy, commented that, “Nozomi Energy’s involvement in the Fun Fes in Nakashibetsu is the latest and largest yet concrete demonstration of our commitment to the local community. It is another proof of our intention to be a long-term partner collaborating with municipalities to deliver clean and reliable renewable power in Japan.”
This was Nozomi Energy’s first time engaging with a local community through a big event, and we consider it to have been a huge success, raising awareness and building trust with local stakeholders. We are proud to have been a part of Fun Fes, and hope to have more opportunities for hands-on engagement with the people of Nakashibetsu, and other host communities for our renewable energy projects.
