On October 14, Nozomi Energy held its second annual Sustainability Day at our Tokyo office, bringing together employees to reflect on our progress over the past year, deepen our understanding of sustainability, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting Japan’s energy transition.

The event featured presentations and discussions by members of Nozomi Energy’s leadership and teams, as well as representatives from Actis, covering a range of sustainability topics relevant to our business.
Jose Antonio Millan Ruano, President & CEO, reaffirmed Nozomi Energy’s commitment to being a sustainability leader in the renewable energy industry. Yasu Hibi, Head of Sustainability, presented our Sustainability Guiding Principles and Strategy, emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainability into everyday business activities and decision-making. The discussion highlighted our commitment to responsible renewable energy development, environmental protection, and building strong, lasting relationships with local communities.

Our Sustainability team highlighted the importance of fostering a “safety-first” culture, emphasizing that workplace safety is everyone’s responsibility. The session also introduced Nozomi Energy’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), our framework for identifying, assessing, and managing environmental and social risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Keisuke Shimamura, Head of Wind Unit, shared real-world examples highlighting the complexities of balancing renewable energy project development with the concerns and expectations of local communities.
We were also pleased to welcome Jun Ohashi and Shami Nissan from Actis, who shared their insights and perspectives on sustainability.
Feedback from participants highlighted the value of learning from real-world experiences, particularly the challenges of community engagement and the importance of a safety-first culture. The event also provided an opportunity for employees to reflect on how sustainability connects to their own roles and everyday work.
Through our annual Sustainability Day, we aim to turn greater awareness and understanding into meaningful action across our business, strengthening our commitment to sustainability as we continue to support Japan’s energy transition.
